What to Pack?

I don't see myself as someone that brings a lot of luggage.     Rafeal Palmeiro

The sentiment above might or might not define you.

However, nothing is harder for us (after the vacation is planned of course than to decide "What to Pack"? )
That becomes an even trickier question if children are involved.

So, as someone who has been coming to Hot Springs for years we thought we would provide some "general guidelines"

As in most Parts of the Country, Hot Springs Weather can Change Quickly!

Fall
You know that special and much awaited time of year where we are able to pull our sweaters out of storage and put on a new pair of boots? Or even better go outside and not have our make-up all sweat off. (Oops, sorry I digress)

However, it is this time of year that we are anxious to see the leaves turn colors, the pumpkins go on sale in the store, news of the county or state fair and the highly anticipated arrival of Halloween Costumes.
It is when the temperatures start to cool off and the idea of sitting by a fire is a most welcoming daydream.

Overall, Hot Springs has mild temperatures.
In the months of September, October  and November it can still be warm during the day (temperatures in the 70's) and yet when the sun sets temperatures  become cooler averaging around 50's and 60's

I like to always "Layer my Clothes" meaning I have a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket I can wear or tie around my waist so that I can be prepared for a quick change in the weather.
During this time of year, you can easily still wear shorts and then have the sweater or sweatshirt if the weather turns cool.

  • We all wear our share of Flip Flops and Sandals these days but it is a good idea to throw in Tennis Shoes in case you plan to go up on the mountain and take a walk or hike around.
  • Hats and Sunglasses are a good idea as well as it is usually sunny even when temperatures are cooler
  • if you plan to visit a SPA the you might want to take your own inexpensive pair of flip flops and a small container / mesh bag to take your personal items (driver's license, credit card, cash) most places have a place you can lock that up but if not then the small bag is easy enough to carry with you.
